Perfetti Van Melle are one of the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum. They create imaginative products and brands that are enjoyed in over 150 countries.

Challenge and Objectives

Perfetti Van Melle, brand owners of; Mentos, Chupa Chups and Fruitella wanted to set up a direct to consumer (D2C) channel to market on multiple marketplaces, but needed a third party to facilitate the opportunity on eBay.

The objective was to establish a sustainable and growing sales route, with detailed analysis and knowledge provided by an experienced partner.

Our Approach and Partnership Strategy

Initial competitive analysis to identify market gaps allowed us to put together pricing which we felt that would put the product in a competitive position on eBay.

Weekly detailed sales reports are issued to provide feedback to PVM on best sellers, popular pack sizes and products which could benefit from promotional listings to boost their visibility.

XS Items and PVM work on a revenue share basis which ensures that the brand integrity is maintained and financial objectives are always aligned.

Our Results

The client is now substantially increasing the volume as well as range of items that XS Items handle on their behalf and are incorporating the marketplace approach into their channel strategy.

An authorised seller agreement is now in place and the focus is on increasing the visibility and sales for Perfetti Van Melle’s ranges of confectionery on eBay.
